Stromer
The Swiss don't make cars, but that doesn't mean they don't
know how to travel in style. Cue Stromer, a mix of Swiss ingenuity
and years of design that lead to the creation of a new form
of urban transportation: the e-bike. Stromer was founded by
Thomas "Thömu" Binggeli, who founded his own
bike shop with the money he gained from the sale of his parents'
livestock, unbeknownst to them.

This grassroots method has a true success story lurking
behind it, as Binggeli won the Young Entrepreneur of the Year
Award in Switzerland in 2006. By 2009, the first Stromer e-bike
was available on the market. Only two years later, the Stromer
ST1 was unveiled, and the bike has racked up sales throughout
Europe and even helped launch the brand to a United States
market.
Recently, this past March, Stromer revealed the next model
of e-bikes, the ST2. This bike sets a precedence in the world
of transportation, as it is the first digitally connected
electric bike in the world. The ST2 communicates with its
owner through a smartphone app that is available on Apple
and Android platforms, and the bike can also receive commands.
The ST2 has uniquely crafted innovation, quality and great
performance, all while remaining true to its Swiss heritage.
The current headquarters of the Stromer brand is completely
sustainable and upholds its core values of environmental friendliness
through the use of a 44,000 square foot facility that operates
completely on power from solar cells on the roof.
Stromer ST2 eBike
The original e-bike model, the Stromer ST1 began the trendsetting
with a sleek appearance and innovative technology. A lithium-ion
powered battery is completely integrated and can quickly be
removed for charging with a simple button, or the unit can
charge onboard. The 500 watt motor is gearless, providing
for an ultra-quiet drive, and the virtually maintenance free
operations provides reliable transportation form day to day.
The ST1 offers easy to use features for every rider and type
of travel, as four separate power modes are just a button
away. The bike delivers excellent hill climbing ability, and
built with Schwalbe Big Ben tires for maximum shock absorption.
All Stromer models have disk brakes and a lightweight carbon
fork.
The newest model, the ST2, features a similar 500 watt motor
but adds an additional 35Nm of torque. With the ST2's Omni
interface, the bike has real-time telemetrics, GPS, GSM, and
Bluetooth capabilities. Omni allows the rider to change power
modes, acquire ride information, adjust energy consumption,
and engage regenerative braking features.
This regenerative braking system is unique to the ST2, as
the breaking system feeds energy into the battery when used.
The ST2 can also be equipped with the custom designed Stromer
City Kit Which adds blending fenders, a rear wheel carrier,
and customized Supernova headlights, and a rear light for
safety. The st2 is indeed the future of e-bikes, and perfectly
merges Swiss design and ingenuity with the latest technology
to make cycling fun.
